“We believe that change is possible no matter what situation or circumstance the young women find themselves in. We understand that this is enormously difficult and challenging, and requires a great deal of courage but we do believe it is possible”.

Young women between the ages of 16 to 28 suffering from eating disorders, self harm, the effects of physical and sexual abuse, depression, unplanned pregnancies and other life controlling issues, are offered a home to live in, and professional care and support to help them overcome their often desperate life situations.

The restoration of vulnerable young women is the main focus of Mercy Ministries work, with safety, emotional support, health and education being the immediate priorities.

Mercy Ministries offers a structured residential based program providing professional support from psychologists, dieticians, general practitioners, social workers, career counsellors and daily education from program staff to support the young women in care. The program aims to addresses all aspects of a young woman’s well being.

Mercy Ministries is committed to seeing these young women reach their full potential. Providing long-term care gives vulnerable girls and young women the opportunity to live in a safe environment for an extended period of time. Professionals work closely with each young women to address the issues they are facing and to determine how best to stage their recovery process. The length of stay for a young woman is usually from six to nine months according to her individual progress.
